Yes, that does make sense. To be clearer, I meant I liked him as a character rather than as a person—'compelled by dislike' is about it. One of the points of similarity with my JSMN fave was the feeling that he's a terribly important character, often not a good person, and the narrative is well aware of that, but important in a way where right or wrong isn't really the point.
